She was Odgeroo of the Noonuccal people. She was Kath Walker, poet and activist. She was mother to her two sons. In November 1974, BOAC (British Airways) aircraft was hijacked in Dubai by Palestinian terrorists. The aircraft was flown to Tunisia and held on the tarmac fro three days. Kath Walker, member of the steering committee for the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture meeting in Nigeria, was on that plane. read more...

From Thursday 9 to Saturday 12 July, more than 1000 singers from around the country will converge on Hobart for Australia's biggest and only national celebration of choral singing. QPAC and Queenslanld Music Festival present an original work of music theatre about twins, eccentricity, and the desire to do good. They dressed in pink, accessorised in pink, lived in a pink house, and drove a pink car. The are The Pink Twins. Dorothy and Moyia O'Brien were born in Toowoomba in 1923. They showed early signs of eccentricity, giving away their toys and stealing flowers out of gardens for people who needed cheering up. read more...

Mark Thompson is set to display his paintings at Robin Gibson Gallery from Sept 12 to Oct 7, 2009. The exhibition will focus on portraits of many well-known entertainment personalities, including Garry McDonald and Marina Prior. In March this year his painting of Greta Scacchi as Queen Eilzabeth in the Ensemble Theatre's Mary Stuart, was a finalist for the Archibald Prize.
